Alfred Thun GmbH is managed by Alfred Thun in the third generation. The fourth generation is also working in the family business. Alfred Thun GmbH is one of the few companies in the bicycle industry that has been family-owned and managed since its foundation.

Its core competence is bottom brackets for city, trekking, children’s and mountain bikes. With 50 employees at its Ennepetal site and a capacity of up to 1 million bottom brackets per month, Alfred Thun GmbH supplies European and global bicycle manufacturers and is the European market leader in the relevant price segments with a market share of approx. 60%.

Job Description

  • Development and design, as well as the constructive implementation of projects in the series production of bicycle components
  • Specifically: Modeling of individual parts & assemblies including drawing creation, FEM analyses, renderings, parts list creation, change management
  • Participation in concept development in the area of design, clarification of technical details, active participation in the design development of customer-specific orders
  • Planning and carrying out trials and tests
  • Checking and evaluating machine concepts for internal production (special machine construction)
  • Continuous development of the R&D department in terms of methodology, processes and quality standards
  • Implementation of requirements from the areas of sustainability, standards and laws
  • Preparation and presentation of analyses, designs and results
  • Collaboration with sales, marketing, production & quality assurance

About You

  • Engineering graduate, Bachelor, Master or state-certified technician (m/f/d) in the field of mechanical engineering or a comparable discipline
  • Professional and design experience: > 5 years
  • Good knowledge of the 3D CAD software SolidWorks
  • Knowledge of SolidWorks Simulate & Visualize
  • Very good written and spoken German and English skills
  • Driving license (class B) and car for the daily commute to work

Job Description

  • Customer-support and service in Asia/Pacific markets, especially in Taiwan, China, Hong Kong, Vietnam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, India, Bangladesh, Philippines
  • Identify and conclude sales contracts with customers in the above-mentioned markets
  • Traveling to these markets
  • Observing and analyzing the market (customers, competitors, supplier colleagues, product trends and developments, etc.)
  • Participation in national and international trade fairs as well as customer in-house exhibitions, including booth support & presence at trade fairs on the Thun booth
  • Cooperation and intensive exchange with Thun’s international sales team

About You

  • Based in Asia
  • Several years of experience in the bicycle sector/industry and the sale of bicycle components
  • Good network of contacts and potential customers
  • High level of willingness to travel
  • Good written and spoken English
